It is advisable to clean Alcantara regularly, avoiding rubbing too vigorously and avoiding the use of steam appliances.
For daily cleaning it is sufficient to dust Alcantara using a soft brush or a dry cloth.
For weekly cleaning after dusting Alcantara, wipe the material with a slightly moistened white cotton cloth. Avoid using printed absorbent cloths / papers as they may release ink onto the material.
In the case of localized stains, if you do not have specific products available, you can still intervene effectively on cleaning by following some small precautions.
For the specific treatment of the different types of stain and the related materials to be used, if you do not have specific materials for cleaning the material, follow the instructions below:
Act immediately (within 30 minutes) and reduce the stain from the edge towards the center in order to prevent it from spreading; never pour the product used for cleaning directly onto Alcantara; before intervening, remove the substance spilled on the coating: with a spoon or a plastic spatula if thick (yogurt, jam, etc.), with an unprinted absorbent paper or a sponge in the case of liquid substances; avoid rubbing to prevent the stain from spreading or penetrating deeply; use a white cloth or a well wrung sponge to remove stains; if using a sponge, rinse it in clean water and squeeze it well between each pass.
If you do not have the listed products, it is recommended, depending on the case, the use of water, or lemon juice, or pure ethyl alcohol (from liqueurs) and following the procedures indicated below.
Water soluble stains
Fruit juice, jam, jelly, syrup, ketchup: use just lukewarm water; rinse by dabbing with clean water.
Blood, egg, feces and urine: use cold water; avoid hot water that causes these substances to coagulate; rinse by dabbing with clean water.
Alcoholic liqueurs, wine, beer, coke and tea: use just lukewarm water; if the patch of color remains, treat it with lemon juice and then rinse well.
Copy pencil, cocoa, chocolate, cream and chocolate desserts, ice cream, mustard: use just lukewarm water; rinse by dabbing with clean water.
Vinegar, hair gel, tomato sauce, coffee with sugar: use lemon juice and then wipe with just warm water; rinse by dabbing with clean water.
Stains not soluble in water
Lipstick, foundation, mascara, eyeshadow, perfume, shoe polish, oil and grease in general, grass stains and markers in general (even indelible ones): dab with ethyl alcohol, then with water and rinse.
For grass and marker stains that are rather difficult to remove, especially on light colors, it is necessary to intervene as soon as possible, to prevent them from becoming too “dry”.
Chewing-gum and wax: put some ice in a plastic bag; when the substance has hardened, remove it in pieces, then treat with ethyl alcohol.
Old spots of unknown origin
First treat with just lukewarm water, then rinse by dabbing with clean water.
If you see that the stain begins to dissolve with water, repeat the treatment several times; let it dry and, if necessary, treat with ethyl alcohol.
